He has aged rather well hasn't he.
v word is 'defying'. Maybe as in death defying, which Hammett's legend certainly is.
That is one of the better v-words.
No need to repeat what I've written about Hammett over the past few months except to note again how astonishingly and brutally contemporary Ned Beaumont's beating in The Glass Key remains today, eighty years after its publication.
