Any more thoughts, Peter? I know someone who'd be very interested in this. She has a research project in Nazis in crime fiction...
All assistance very welcome!
The great Friedrich Glauser (read about him in my opening post) wrote his crime novels about Sgt. Studer in the 1930s. One of them, though, is punctuated by ominous radio broadcasts that indicate Glauser saw what was coming. I can't remember if the novel in question is Thumbprint or In Matto's Realm. I think it's the latter. Your friend might want to take a look at The Dancing Master by Henning Mankell as well.
If her project includes thrillers, she'll have lots of material, The Quiller Memorandum, for one.
Keep me posted on her project.
