We have a winner!
A reader in Italy was the first of several DBB respondents who knew that Amanda Cross' real name was Carolyn Gold Heilbrun and that she received tenure at Columbia University (the first woman to be so honored in the university's English department). He wins a copy of Iain Levison's Dog Eats Dog.
Thanks to all who entered.

The book arrived today,Peter;seems promising.
And your DBD card is very stylish.
Ciao,

Thanks. Maybe it takes an Italian to judge style. The last person I showed it to -- a person coarse in judgment and lacking manners, with a rudeness she probably mistakes for delightful insouciance -- said, "What the hell is this?"
I may revert to one aspect of my previous batch, though, and put the slogan on the back and the announcement that DBB is a blog on the front. I must take into account even my most obtuse customers.

Maaybe (rapid overview:shirt is in order, socks are paired;lets out a breath of relief) but my father or my grandfather would probably have been a better choice.
Anyway,my vote goes to the current model. You shouldn't aim at the lowest common denominator.
Ciao,
Marco
I'll keep the present design. But the previous version had the line about "the blog for international crime fiction" on the front and the slogan "Because Murder is More Fun Away From Home" on the back. I switched them because I thought the slogan was so clever. Perhaps, but it might be better to let the reader know right away, on the front, that Detectives Beyond Borders is a blog.
