I can give you that seventy five bucks in person and if you can get insert some kind of avian Pelecanos pun, I'll make it an even hundred.
Easily done, since the scientific name for the brown pelican is Pelecanus occidentalis. It's rather easy to imagine a book in which the protagonist plays an insurance investigator ... and the adventurous headline for a review of the book that an initiative-crushingly unimaginative newspaper could rewrite. That is, if that paper still regarded book coverage as anything more than a doddering embarrassment.
